Sarah Whittleston appointed as leader of Elim's prayer ministry

In May 2018, Sarah Whittleston was appointed as the new leader of Elim's national prayer ministry. Sarah takes over the role from Alistair Cole who has served in the position since 2005.

Currently on the pastoral team at Kingstanding Church, Birmingham, Sarah has also been on the Limitless national youth team for a decade.

Elim's General Superintendent Chris Cartwright said, “We recognise in Sarah’s ministry a vision for prayer to be at the centre of our Movement’s life, ministry and mission. I want to encourage you to pray for Sarah as she steps into this fresh season of ministry and for our national prayer ministry that it will be a releasing and be enabling ministry for our Movement.”

“As Elim moves into the next few years, we believe that we are being called as a Movement to advance in Spirit-empowered mission and ministry. We need not only prayer meetings and methods, but nothing less than a prayer movement. That’s not something to be delegated to a select few but a groundswell to be joined, leader by leader and church by church.”

Elim's national ministry for prayer is known as Lift Up. It core purposes are to inspire and facilitate prayer across the Elim movement, equip leaders and churches with teaching and support, resource prayer leaders and churches, as well as pray for the Elim movement, its leaders and ministries.

Commenting on her new role, Sarah said, “I feel honoured and privileged to be given this Elim Prayer Leadership role, building on a legacy of prayer within the movement. Prayer is vital to the life of every disciple and plays an important role in building God’s Kingdom. Prayer is powerful because the God we pray to is immeasurably powerful. Nothing is impossible with God!”

“I am excited to see what God will unfold as we seek to grow and develop faith-filled and faithful prayer. Imagine the transformation within us and through us, on frontlines and in churches, in communities, cities and nations, as we pursue God and his purpose through prayer.”

Sarah is committed to seeing people released into all God has for them. She is passionate about seeing God's Kingdom being more and more a reality here on earth. Sarah believes that anything is possible when we hear the voice of God and say yes!
