Expanding our Reach: Robinson Ministry update - April 2025

Greetings y’all!
Hmm, I (Ali) wonder if two weeks in Dallas might have affected my vocabulary!

We had been loosely planning for a while for me (Ali) to go and spend a couple of weeks in Dallas, Texas with some of the members of the Ethnologue editorial team who are based there. It all came together very suddenly in the end and I found myself on a plane heading there in mid-March. It was a really beneficial time. The main focus was for me to work with Chuck Fennig who is the current Managing Editor of Ethnologue to learn more of the role in preparation for me to take it on. We are reworking the role to some extent so I was also spending significant time with Gary Simons, the Chief Editor, working through the implications of this on our technical systems. More on that another time. I was staying with another member of the team and her husband (Beth and Ed Brye) who showed me that American hospitality and friendliness can be second to none.

Tim meanwhile has also been travelling. At the start of March, he was able to join an in-person meeting of a Europe-wide inter-organisational community of practice for people in Tim’s sort of role with security and crisis preparedness. He was very encouraged by the warm welcome and frank conversations. Next, he joined the 4th of 4 Eurasia service groups for their biennial staff gathering. He had a higher profile than in previous group gatherings, running a workshop and presenting in team meetings. From there he flew to Slovenia for a few days off with some guys he met at a conference in 2023. A great time to connect with guys engaged in cross-cultural ministry life with families, all were blessed by the time together and are hoping for a repeat next year.

After a few days back together Tim is leaving for a trip to the Middle East where he will be helping support an Alpha Tiles workshop for participants who will be developing literacy apps for the languages they are working in. Once he gets back from this trip there will be a more extended time before he has to travel again!

Dan is still waiting to hear from the University, the committee who are making the decision about whether he can go back in September, are meeting in early April, please pray for the right decision to be made.

Thank you for supporting us to do this work. We value you and your prayers for us. Please continue to pray for us.

Praise

  • Informative and encouraging trip for Ali to the US
  • Safe travels for us all

Prayer

  • For all of us to rest in his presence and experience his peace through all the changes that are coming up
  • Safe travels for Tim and the participants

God bless!
Tim & Ali & Dan Robinson.
