August 2024 Update
"Praise the Lord! Praise, O servants of the Lord, praise the name of the Lord!" - Psalms 113:1
Greetings Friends,
We hope you’re all doing well. It has been a good and hot start to the summer for us both here in the UK!
This month we have both finished our roles in the schools and the community hub we’ve been working at. These positions have been such a blessing to us and we pray that we have served to the best of our ability, and been a positive impact to those we have been working with and serving. We pray every blessing for The Hub at St Marys’, St. James Academy and Abbey Primary School for the new academic year!!
In addition to this, there have been a couple of milestones in our family that we have been happy to witness. Nitasha’s younger sister Graduated and celebrated her 21st birthday. And we’ve been helping her brother, his fiancé and 2 baby boys, move into their new home. We have been so proud of them and glad to still have been around to be helping hand.
In mid-July, we both went to GearFest 2024 in London; a popular event where sound engineers, musicians and music producers, gather to explore and learn about the tech advancements in the industry. It was a great experience where Jordan had the opportunity to network and connect with other Christians in the field.
Over the past couple of months, we’ve also had the absolute pleasure of taking some very good friends of ours Jacob & Ruth, through some pre-marital preparation material. This came to an end last week and they are to be wed at the end of August!! We are incredibly honoured to have walked with them on this journey towards marriage and we pray for Gods favour, love and grace over their next steps.
Finally, have a public announcement to make …
We have our visas!!!
We thank you all for your prayers and support during this time. Praise the Lord for His favour and grace and unyielding mercy, as He has steadily and carefully used His hand to guide us over these last 2 years! Over the past few weeks we have been making visits to the Japanese Embassy in London in order to process the Visa applications, and we’re glad to say that we went to pick them up on Thursday (1st August).
We originally thought we would have a larger window in which we can get our affairs in order, but we have to be in Japan before the expiry day on our Certificate of Eligibility (not the expiry date on our visas, as we thought), which is the first week of September ??!! So we officially have one month (4 weeks) left in the UK before we head out to Japan. Our next steps within the next 2 weeks are: booking our flights, arranging our goods to be shipped, finding and applying for accommodation.
We call upon our prayer warriors to pray for: God’s hand over the transition (house, flights and shipping), for regular donations towards the mission in order for us to fulfil the long-term call to Japan, and for God’s comfort over our friends and families as we say our goodbyes.
And if you are in the area or just want to see us off, a few friends of ours are organising a farewell party on Saturday 24th August, between 2-6pm at Encounter Church in Selly Oak. We’d love to see you there and show our appreciation to you for being on this continued journey with us and playing your part in God’s plan for Japan! And if you cannot make our farewell event, then please get in touch by phone or email, because we’d love to hear from you before we go.
Thank you all so so much!! We love you, we appreciate you and hope to see you before we head out…??
All our love,
Nitasha & Jordan Christian
