July 2024 Update

"But you, O Lord, are a shield about me, my glory, and the lifter of my head." - Psalms 3:3 (ESV)

Dear Friends,

We are incredibly excited!!!

We give our Lord Jesus thanks for you and your prayers because this month we received our Certificate of Eligibility!!! The documents arrived at Japan Kingdom Church on the 13th, and then arrived a week later in the post here in Birmingham.

Our next steps are to book an appointment with the Japanese Embassy in London and make an application for a 1-year Missionary Visa. There’s a likelihood that we make the appointment for when we have finished the school term, around the 19th July, when we have much more availability. For now, as we near the end of our time at the schools (and Jordan at the community hub) this month, we are both still working hard and enjoying our experiences.

Sadly, we are sorry to say, that with this extremely good news, comes the news of a home calling… Joshua Daichi Gadsden, son of Pastor Marcel and Chiaki Gadsden of Japan Kingdom Church, at nearly 2 years old, passed away on 10th June 2024. From the pastors, the family at JKC and ourselves, thank you so so much for every prayer prayed for Joshua!

Thankfully, we spent a few times eating and playing with Joshua during our time in Tokyo earlier this year. He was full of life and joy, and we are grateful to have met him!!

Marcel, Chiaki & Joshua Gadsden

His parents themselves said “Your praying wasn’t in vain! There is a bigger plan of God at hand.”. On their Facebook profiles, they have posted many stories of healing, salvation and other miracles that have occurred in the lives of others during the time the Joshua was in hospital. And we give God the glory!! Marcel and Chiaki have remained strong in the faith, trusting the Lord with Joshua’s life - and their life and ministry to this day.

Please join us in prayer this month:

  • For Japan Kingdom Church. That as Pastor Marcel temporarily hands over to their assistant pastor, the Spirit of the Living God heals Marcel and Chiaki both, soothes their hearts, encourages healthy mourning and gives them rest.
  • For our (actual) visa application. At this point, the Japanese Government have not yet given full approval. The visa is the last step. Pray for God’s favour for a resounding yes!
  • For the summer ahead. As we begin final preparations to move, pray for smooth logistics, a big push for securing more regular funding, planning goodbyes and strength to finish our jobs well.

We love you and thank you for journeying with us!

All our love
