October 2022 ... Team time and we've been scrapping - not scraping.
Ministry Update
A big need!
It’s the end of an era, saying goodbye to this old faithful! After 21 years on the road, 15 with us, and many kilometres on the clock, our ministry vehicle has finally died and had to take a final journey to the scrap yard. It has transported teams, young adults, and made weekly journeys to take the Ukrainian members of our congregation back and forward to church. It’s driven through many countries, and many terrains and carried a lot of things it wasn’t designed to do, like rubble and cement. We have found another car but need your help! Would you be able to partner with us for its replacement? We promise it will be just as busy in ministry! Some people have asked us how much we need to raise. We have found a suitable 7-seater with relatively low mileage but means we need to raise £10,000. If you want to know more about it and how it will be used please feel free to ask. To help us with this huge need either contact us directly or use this link.
If you would like to bring a team out to help with the final push, please get in touch! It will be used as a place of rest, debriefing, and renewal, as well as a place where couples in crisis can come and get help. We will also use it for local ministry, including our work with young adults and English language outreach.
A great team!
One thing is true of any ministry, we can’t do it alone! We were incredibly encouraged at the start of the summer by a great team from Ipswich International Church who came out and helped with the renovation of the old house. They made fantastic progress, and we still can’t believe how much was accomplished in such a short time! Here are some photos of the work.
Young Adults.
In our city, we are blessed with 3 Universities. We are also blessed with a government that offers Christian Scholarships to students from countries where there is opposition to Christianity. Put these two facts together, and you end up with the opportunity we have available to us. Attending our Church we have several young adults who are away from home and need some form of Christian community and friendly support. With the new term, the group is growing and we now have students from Ukraine, Lebanon, Kenya, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Nigeria, and of course, Hungary. Our aim is to develop this community and hopefully develop a time of teaching and discipleship where we bring the Biblical principles in the Life for Singles course to offer an element of discipleship.
A change of tempo!
After a very busy period of ministry, we felt first-hand the need for a time of refreshing. This month marks the beginning of our 15th year in ministry here, so it seemed fitting to end the 14th year with a sabbatical, a time we have been very grateful for. Although, still involved with the local church and ministry during this period we took time out from other ministry activities to reset and reflect. This has allowed time for us to ask God what, out of all the things we have been doing, is important to His plan going forward.
Please pray for
-
Provision for the replacement of our ministry vehicle.
-
Development of the Young Adult community.
-
The continued work on the Paraszt Haz project.
-
God's wisdom as we minister to couples in crisis and missionaries facing either crisis or transition.
-
A new, healthier ministry routine as we come off sabbatical.
We deeply appreciate all the love and support that you have given us in this last year. We know that we would not be able to do what we have been called to do without your partnership.
