We were united as ONE voice

Two ladies from Elim’s Plymouth Christian Centre were at the Aspire’s latest ONE conference and share their experiences

I didn’t know what to expect going to the ONE conference, but the day was action-packed with amazing speakers, heart-warming testimonies, and wonderful worship. Looking around the arena, it was fantastic to see such a diverse group of women of all ages, united by our relationship with the One.

The hosts Shiv and Shae were hilarious and their interaction with the crowd and the games they played provided good, light-hearted fun.

Emma Bryant was the first speaker, delivering a powerful message about distractions, Lot’s wife, and not looking back. The next speaker was Charlotte Gambill – who taught an amazing lesson on ‘ribology’, encouraging us as women to stick together and support one another. Holding hands and praying together in the arena was powerful!

We heard about two wonderful ladies at the conference who were honoured on the day for what they have been through, followed by a video about Elim’s ‘Be Free’ project and how it helps women in tragic circumstances of human exploitation – this brought me to tears. These were shining examples of women serving God.

The final speaker, Shirene Agbelusi, talked about being careful with our words and encouraged us to ‘speak life’ over ourselves. She shared a beautiful poem – which seemed like a perfect end to the day. But then, there were more surprises – a worship party that raised the roof! It was an absolutely excellent day in the presence of God. Thank you to the organisers!

It is always such a powerful blessing to gather with other women to encourage each other, worship and hear from God together. Firstly, we had Emma Bryant who took us to Genesis 17, talking about Lot’s wife, reminding us that the enemy knows what hinders and holds us back, and encouraging us to look forward to God as our focus. Charlotte Gambill then brought Genesis 2 to life, teaching on the woman as a helper through the role of a rib to protect the heart (the Church), with moves to help the body breathe (showing grace) and the need for women to work together.

The highlight of the day was seeing all the women in the room connecting and vowing to support and encourage each other in furthering the Kingdom of God. Finally, we heard from Shirene Agbelusi who challenged us to speak life over ourselves and to speak life over those around us. Such a great feast of God’s Word!

Throughout the day it was wonderful to spend time with friends and share what God is doing. We were blessed with worship encountering the heart of God and ministry in dance. It was great to hear testimonies of God’s goodness and we were also blessed with Welsh cakes! God is clearly doing something wonderful amongst the women of the Southwest and Wales and I am so privileged to be part of it.

The ONE conference was held on 15 June at ICC Wales in Newport.
