My leg grew and my years of pain ended after prayer

Perthe’s Disease had left Chris White with chronic back pain until a miraculous healing at Beacon Elim changed everything. He told Chris Rolfe his story

“When I was 13 I was diagnosed with Perthe’s disease which is a serious condition of the hip joint,” says Chris White. “I spent six months in traction in Carshalton Children’s Hospital with my bed tilted up and heavy weights attached to my legs.

“I was told to lie as still as possible, which isn’t easy for a 13-year-old! After four months they operated on me, breaking my hip and putting a six-inch metal plate in my left leg. Then I spent six weeks in a half-body plaster. It was quite traumatic for a young lad.”

The operation left Chris with a significant limp and he developed curvature of the spine and endured continuous lower back pain, his left leg being more than an inch shorter than his right. Then in 2004 an X-ray revealed Chris’s hip joint had become deformed and a hip replacement was required.

“They extended my left leg by nearly an inch, but I still walked unevenly and had serious back pain,” Chris says.

Fast-forward to 2024 and a morning in February changed everything.

As a regular attendee of Beacon Elim Church, Chris, now 69 and married to Sandra, was attending a service where fellow church member Jill Southern was sharing about the work God was leading her into following the sale of the Pierrepont healing and deliverance centre. Here, Jill takes up the story: “We’ve established a new charity called Living Bridge to continue Pierrepont’s work. I was talking about the importance of faith for healing. In James 5:14, for example, it says: ‘Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord.’”

As Jill shared and prayed, the thought came to Chris that he should ask God for a leg extension. Shortly afterwards, he realised his leg had grown and his left knee was now in line with his right!

“Now I can walk without disabling back pain and enjoy blissful sleep as I no longer have to sleep with a cushion or hot water bottle in my back,” he says. “I can walk up the road without chronic back pain. It’s remarkable what the Lord has done. I’m so grateful!”

He now has his sights set on achieving a few previously impossible goals – including walking up the Malvern hills. Jill says Chris’s healing proves that God still heals today.

“It’s an amazing miracle and we’re so excited to share it,” she says. “Chris’s life has completely changed!”

Two new projects planned

Chris and Jill are embarking on two exciting projects this summer.

Following his miracle healing Chris is set to become a presenter on Brumside Radio. “I’ll present Christian topics or look at issues like vaccine injuries from the Covid jab,” he says. “It’s called ‘The Chris White Discover the Truth Show’ and is on the last Thursday of each month from 8pm.”

Meanwhile, Jill is hoping for more miraculous healings. Living Bridge is offering free healing retreats, with 100 ministers trained to pray into the roots of various issues. “We’ll teach on basic Christian principles like forgiveness, then offer ministry at the end of each session,” says Jill.
